I know that doesn't really answer your question, but it at least gives you some idea of what kinds of options the instructors have. (I know I had some math professors in ye olden days of paper assignments that would just count an answer completely wrong even if the error was obviously a write-o.) You certainly wouldn't have that feedback that says you got it wrong at all or the opportunity to fix it. Either way, though, keep in mind what would happen if you submitted it on paper. If the example you give is for homework, that seems kinda harsh. They can actually change the settings for a whole assignment, down to having each individual answer that the student enters follow a different rule. I don't really have any statistics for how many instructors use the defaults and how many customize things. There are a number built in to the system that are designed for different things, like the homework template is more lax than the exam one, for example. Here are the examples provided to the instructors on that screen:Īward 25% of the available points when a student submits greater than 3 responses.Īward 25% of the available points for each incorrect response a student submits.Īward 75% of the available points if a student submits his response less than 24 hours before the due date. And when I say "full control", I mean that he can actually write a formula to calculate the score for a question.

The instructor has full control over things like the number of attempts a student is allowed, how much to deduct for incorrect answers, the point values for questions, etc. Follow us on Twitter or Like us on Facebook!įacebook Twitter Instagram Calendar Please check out our Rules and FAQs.Email us at Step-by-step guide to doing an AMA.See more on our comment removals policy here.Attempting to bypass this rule by adding a ? to a non question will result in a permanent ban.All initial responses to posters must contain a properly punctuated question.Requests should be posted in /r/IAmARequests.See here for tips concerning proof and examples. If it must remain confidential, you can submit proof on our website so we can verify you and your claims.
